First time obedience

We want our kids to obey us as parents.  We can simply tell them to obey, and that is great for the early stages.  Encourage first time obedience.  Teach your kids to obey swiftly, sweetly, and completely.  As they get older, your authority shifts towards influence.  Obey the leaders in your own lives.  When kids see you obeying those over you, they learn the value of submission to and respect for authority. This will also teach them how to bring joy to their leaders and making their authority’s job easier.

Great reminder! Our pediatrician defines obedience as “Doing what you’re told, when you’re told, with the right heart attitude.”
